On Friday, Scott Frost and the UCF Knights added a big name in the transfer portal with the commitment of Indiana quarterback Tayven Jackson.

Jackson, a 6-foot-4 sophomore from Greenwood, Indiana, spent the previous two seasons with the Hoosiers after starting his career at Tennessee.

“Tayven Jackson has committed to UCF,” ESPN’s Pete Thamel wrote on X. “Big pick-up for Scott Frost in his first season at UCF.”

While Jackson hadn’t seen the field consistently in his three-year career, the production is still there for the Indiana native. In three years of college football, Jackson has recorded 104 completions for 1,300 yards, with six scores through the air and five on the ground.

Coming out of Center Grove High School in the Class of 2022, Jackson was listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 198th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 12th-ranked player at his position and the sixth-ranked player in the state of Indiana.

With the addition, UCF has now added a total of 21 new faces in Orlando through the transfer portal this offseason.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will remain open until Saturday, December 28, with an exception for players on teams who play bowl games after the window closes. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 1,558 (68.5%) undergraduates and 715 (31.5%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 57% reported that they enrolled in another school, 8% withdrew their names from the portal, and 35% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
