Kendal Daniels was one of Oklahoma State’s top defenders over the last three years in Stillwater, but now he’s headed south to Norman — and the SEC.
The former Cowboy committed to Oklahoma on Monday, and has one year of eligibility remaining for his time with the Sooners.
Daniels, a native of Beggs, Oklahoma, arrived at Oklahoma State as a member of the 2021 recruiting cycle and was the crown jewel of the Pokes’ class that year.
A consensus four-star prospect and the No. 1 overall player in the state of Oklahoma, Daniels originally held offers from programs across the country, including an offer from then-Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables.
Despite offers from programs like Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, and LSU, Daniels elected to stay home and become a key component of the Oklahoma State defense, and he did just that.
Over the last three seasons as a starter, Daniels has recorded 240 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and five interceptions, playing a pivotal role that saw him ride the line between safety and linebacker.
Oklahoma finished the 2024 season with a 6-7 record and will be looking to bounce back in their second year in the SEC. With Daniels now aboard, the Sooners have the No. 14 transfer portal class, according to 247Sports.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will remain open until Saturday, December 28, with an exception for players on teams who play bowl games after the window closes. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 1,558 (68.5%) undergraduates and 715 (31.5%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 57% reported that they enrolled in another school, 8% withdrew their names from the portal, and 35% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
