When the winter transfer portal opened back in December, one of the biggest outgoing names in the Big 12 was Texas Tech wide receiver Micah Hudson.

The former consensus five-star recruit was one of the best available players in this cycle and promptly started a bidding war for his services, with Texas A&M ultimately winning his commitment on December 15.

However, after just one month in College Station, it sounds like the 19-year-old is taking some time away from the football field.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Hudson is “temporarily stepping away from day-to-day football activities.”

Hudson’s reason for stepping away from football for the time is unclear at this point, but obviously the Aggies would prefer one the most physically gifted athletes on their team were operating as part of the team.

Despite having just eight catches for 123 yards with Texas Tech in 2024, Hudson has immense potential and has drawn several comparisons to Garrett Wilson, a first-round selection out of Ohio State who is now a star with the New York Jets.
