After its 12-game winning streak was snapped on the road at West Virginia on Saturday, the Iowa State men’s basketball team is scheduled to return to action against UCF in the confines of Hilton Coliseum on Tuesday evening.

With dangerously low temperatures sweeping through the central United States—overnight lows of -12 degrees in Ames tonight— Iowa State announced that campus will be partially closed on Tuesday, bringing the game’s status into question.

On Monday afternoon, Iowa State athletics provided an update on the status of the game via Twitter, warning the student section of the expected weather.

“@CycloneMBB vs. UCF will be played as scheduled at 7 pm tomorrow,” ISU athletics said on Twitter. “@CycloneAlley be mindful of the cold temperatures and dress accordingly… DO NOT line up significantly in advance of the doors opening at 5:30PM.”

If Iowa State fans are being warned about the frigid temperatures, folks traveling from Orlando for the game are in for a true shock to the senses.

These two programs will be meeting for just the second time in their history, as the first meeting came last season when the Cyclones toppled the Knights 60-52 in Orlando.

Iowa State enters the game with a 28-game home winning streak, the second-longest active home winning streak in the country behind fellow Big 12 school Houston.

The third-ranked Cyclones enter the game with a 15-2 overall record and a 5-1 record in conference play. Meanwhile, UCF enters with a 12-5 overall record and is 3-3 in the Big 12.
