It’s safe to say that the UCF Knights have been one of the more interesting cases in the Big 12 Conference this season due to their peaks and valleys.
Despite some early adversity, UCF has taken steps forward over the past few weeks and was recently listed as Last Four In on Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.
UCF, 12-5 (3-3 in Big 12 play), has had a mixed bag of results in conference play. They sit at 3-3 with wins over Texas Tech, Colorado, and Arizona State and losses to No. 12 Kansas, Arizona, and No. 7 Houston. In the previous game vs. the Cougars, UCF led until the final possession of the game before Houston forward J’Wan Roberts connected on a game-winning basket to secure the win, 69-68.
Johnny Dawkins built his roster this season through returning stars from the 2023-24 season, transfer portal additions, and big names in the Class of 2024. Athletes like Jordan Ivy-Curry, Darius Robinson, Keyshawn Hall, and Moustapha Thiam have developed into Big 12 stars this year and continue to battle in a loaded conference.
The group has four more Quad 1 opportunities remaining on their schedule to bolster their resume, with two outings against No. 3 Iowa State and matchups with No. 12 Kansas and No. 23 West Virginia.
