Sep 7, 2024; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day talks to quarterback Will Howard (18) in the huddle during the second half of the NCAA football game against the Western Michigan Broncos at Ohio Stadium.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the College Football Playoff National Champions after beating Notre Dame 34-23 on Monday night in Atlanta.

But after the game, the Buckeyes arguably suffered their biggest hit of the night when the woman driving the golf cart with head coach Ryan Day and star quarterback Will Howard plowed the cart right into the wall.

Sometimes the jokes write themselves.

I mean, she wasn’t even close to cutting the corner to avoid the wall. It’s one of the worst driving jobs I’ve ever seen recorded in a golf cart. Especially from someone sober.

Ohio State coaches and players ended up walking through the tunnel, rather than taking another risk with the worst golf cart driver I’ve seen since I was caddying a Clam Bake at Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey in the summer of 2011.

As for the Buckeyes, hopefully they can laugh off the minor collision as they won their first National Championship since 2014, the first year of the four-team College Football Playoff. Now, in the first year of the 12-Team Playoff, the Buckeyes are again atop the college football mountaintop.

And while Ryan Day likely needs to fill some spots in the transfer portal, he should also make sure he finds himself a competent golf cart driver for the 2025 season.
