On Wednesday night in Ft. Worth, Texas, two Big 12 teams clashed in an exciting match up.

Jamie Dixon and the TCU Horned Frogs welcomed Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks to Schollmaier Arena for the seventh game of the Big 12 regular season. The pair traded blows early before Kansas rallied back from a 14-point deficit to take the lead and cruise to their fifth conference win of the season.

With that, here are the top three takeaways on Kansas’ 74-61 win over the Horned Frogs.

NBA Time

While Kansas fans have a lot to look forward to in 2025-26 with incoming five-star freshman Darryn Peterson heading to Lawrence, the fanbase may not get to see him take the court alongside current five-star freshman Flory Bidunga.

Bidunga has been inserted into the starting lineup for Kansas in the absence of senior forward KJ Adams and continues to flash on tape. He recorded a double-double vs. TCU with 10 points and 10 rebounds, alongside four blocks, one assist, and one steal.

With Bidunga starting to hit his stride, he is starting to look more and more like an NBA prospect in the 2025 NBA Draft. With freshman forward Johnny Furphy leaving after averaging nine points and five rebounds one season ago, Flory may be on pace to make the jump prior to his sophomore season.

Home Court Falls

While TCU sits at 10-8 overall and 3-4 in Big 12 Conference play, coming into the matchup vs. Kansas, the team held a 9-1 record at home this season. TCU’s lone loss at Schollmaier Arena came against the Utah Utes in the midst of a three-game win streak, 73-65.

Add Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks to that statistic as the team took care of business for the third straight time vs. TCU. The Jayhawks have dominated the Horned Frogs in the all-time series, with the team now holding a 27-4 record.

Kansas held the Horned Frogs to 61 total points on 39.1% shooting from the field, 21.7% shooting from three, and just 50% from the free throw line.

AJ Storr

Since committing to Kansas in the transfer portal, former Wisconsin forward AJ Storr has struggled to adapt to Bill Self’s system. He’d been averaging six points and one rebound in a career-low 17.6 minutes per game coming into the contest but quickly changed narratives on Wednesday.

Storr posted one of his best games to date as a Jayhawk with 12 points and six rebounds vs. TCU. While it’s no secret that the Illinois native has been a natural scorer in his college career (averaged 16.8 in 2023-24 at Wisconsin), one aspect of his game that Self had not been pleased with was Storr’s effort on defense. Against the Horned Frogs, his defensive effort was the best of the season, finishing his day with three of the team’s seven steals.
