The NFL coaching carousel is starting to wind down as folks gear up for the AFC and NFC Championship Games this weekend.

The Bears managed to lure away Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their next head coach, which was actually the right hire for Chicago (imagine that).

Dallas appears to be screwing up its hiring process (again, imagine that) with Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys current offensive coordinator, emerging as the new favorite to replace Mike McCarthy.

The Las Vegas Raiders are another franchise looking to provide renewed energy heading into the 2025 offseason, and with the news on Friday morning, it’s safe to say that they went big.

Mark Davis reportedly trusted Tom Brady with the hiring process, and the seven-time Super Bowl winner delivered again by going out and convincing Pete Carroll to get back on the sidelines.

Carroll spent the last two decades as the head coach at USC and the Seattle Seahawks, winning at the highest level during both stints, and now, the 73-year-old will take over in Las Vegas.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carroll and the Raiders have signed a three-year deal that also includes an option for a fourth season. During his 14 seasons with Seattle, Carroll held a 137-89-1 (.606) overall record and took the Seahawks to the playoffs 10 times, with two NFC Championships and a Super Bowl in 2013.

Carroll will replace Antonio Pierce, who had a 9-17 overall record and was 4-13 in his lone complete season as Las Vegas’s head coach.
