The Big 12 Conference has some exciting matchups in the near future, with multiple rivalry games, Top 25 matchups, and everything else under the sun.
In the upcoming week, five games stood out above the rest, and here is an official breakdown of the five best games for the week of January 27th, 2025.
No. 1 – Iowa State vs. Arizona
The best game of the upcoming week is the matchup between No. 3 Iowa State and Arizona. The Wildcats and Cyclones both sit at 7-1 in league play and are coming off wins in their last outing. Arizona took down Colorado 78-63, while Iowa State outlasted Arizona State 76-61. While the AP Poll doesn’t officially drop until Monday morning, Arizona continues to receive more and more votes and will likely return to the Top 25.
No. 2 – Houston vs. West Virginia
Following close behind Iowa State vs. Arizona, a Top 25 matchup is set to unfold in Morgantown, West Virginia. No. 7 Houston heads to Morgantown to take on No. 23 West Virginia after surviving an intense double overtime contest against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse. The Mountaineers, however, have struggled in their recent outings, losing to Arizona State and Kansas State.
No. 3 – Kansas vs. Baylor
Nearly a Top 25 matchup, No. 13 Kansas heads to Waco for a matchup against Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears. Baylor started off the season as a Preseason Top 25 team but dropped out of the poll quickly after some tough losses. Regardless, they sit at 9-1 at home, which should be challenging for a Jayhawks team that’s lost two of their last four games.
No. 4 – Kansas State vs. Iowa State
While Kansas State has severely underperformed expectations this season, rivalry matchups are nearly always competitive. The Farmageddon matchup in Ames during the 2023-24 season resulted in some of the wildest storylines in recent memory, with Kansas State’s Jerome Tang claiming Iowa State had an eye on the Wildcats’ huddle during a timeout. Needless to say, Tang’s return to Ames will be must-see TV.
No. 5 – Arizona vs. Arizona State
The second rivalry game on the list resides in an in-state rivalry between Arizona and Arizona State. The Wildcats sit at 7-1 in league play while Arizona State fights to work their way off the bubble. The Sun Devils host Arizona after losing the previous three matchups to Arizona and eight of the last 10 games.
