The 2025 NFL Draft is still a few months away, but with the Pro Bowl and Super Bowl being the only remaining event standing between us and the NFL Combine, it’s time for 30 franchises to assess the upcoming class of prospects.
With February looming, it’s officially the beginning of Mock Draft season, and the latest one from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso has the Big 12 performing quite well.
In fact, he’s got a franchise trading up to the No. 1 overall pick to select a player from the conference.
Just days after Tom Brady helped the Las Vegas Raiders go out and get Pete Carroll, Trapasso is predicting that the seven-time Super Bowl champ will also play a roll in getting Shedeur Sanders to Sin City.
In this scenario, Trapasso has the Raiders sending the No. 6 pick, along with a slew of future first-rounders to the Titans in order to take Sanders at No. 1 overall.
After Cam Ward and Jalen Milroe go at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, Travis Hunter lands with New England at No. 4, giving the Patriots a generational athlete that Trapasso says can “be featured right away” after an incredible college career as a two-way athlete.
Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan is the next Big 12 player off the board, going to the Carolina Panthers at No. 8. McMillan ranks as the No. 1 overall wide receiver and No. 6 overall prospect in the class, giving Panthers’ quarterback Bryce Young a big-time threat out wide.
With three of the first eight picks in the NFL Draft, this scenario would give the Big 12 its best showing in several years. After McMillan at eight, though, Trapasso has the Big 12 disappearing for the rest of the first round, while the SEC and Big Ten combine for 20 of the remaining 24 picks.
