On a Tuesday night in Provo, Utah, MMA legend Conor McGregor showed up to watch BYU basketball take on Baylor.
McGregor acknowledged the crowd and fired up the BYU fans during the game.
This comes one day after McGregor was in Salt Lake City for the Jazz vs. Bucks game.
And according to ESPN play-by-play man Mike Monaco, there were also 32 NBA scouts in attendance, along with Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy and Nets GM Sean Marks.
BYU and Baylor enter the game in Provo with identical 13-6 records on the season, but Baylor is 5-3 in Big 12 play, while BYU is 4-4.
Big 12 Bubble Watch
In Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology, Baylor is considered “in” the NCAA Tournament, while BYU is under the “considered” list, which means they’re on the outside looking in.
Lunardi has three Big 12 teams listed on his bubble in Cincinnati, UCF and Arizona State.
UCF was listed on the right side of the bubble, listed as the last team in from the recent update. Arizona State and Cincinnati, however, have some work to do if they plan to reach post-season play in 2025.
The Knights (13-6, 4-4) sit in the middle of the pack on the Big 12, with wins over TCU, Arizona State, Colorado, and No. 22 Texas Tech. Though the Sun Devils and Bearcats are listed just a few places behind Johnny Dawkins’ squad, the pair have a significantly worse resume with league records of 2-6 respectively.
While each team has 12 more games to bolster their resume, Arizona State leads the pack with the most Quad 1 opportunities left on their schedule. The Sun Devils will have three games against Top 25 opponents in the final stretch of games, while UCF has two, and Cincinnati holds just one.
With UCF in the NCAA Tournament field in the eyes of Joe Lunardi, the Big 12 conference has eight teams reaching March Madness if the tournament tipped off today.
