The Michigan Wolverines are back in the news for the scandal that tainted their national championship run in 2023 and made Connor Stalions a household name.
After months of official silence, Michigan decided to release a response to the NCAA probe that alleges an elaborate sign-stealing scheme run by Stalions. And, instead of accepting their punishments and making the statement more ceremonious than anything else, the Wolverines decided to call the NCAA out.
“In its response to the association sent earlier this month, the university refutes many of the alleged rules violations and accuses the NCAA of ‘grossly overreaching’ and ‘wildly overcharging’ the program without credible evidence that other staff members knew of Stalions’ illegal in-person scouting system,” Ross Dellenger reported on Tuesday.
This reaction, of course, elicited a strong response from social media, dragging Chargers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh back into the mix.
A Harbaugh quote from his time with the 49ers, saying, “If you cheat to win, then you’ve already lost,” made its rounds, and one of his former Big Ten colleagues just couldn’t let it slide.
It wasn’t just one tweet, though, as Bielema went in on him again, below.
It’s clear there’s no love lost between these two, but Bielema is just rigid enough to say what everyone else is thinking.
Harbaugh and Bielema met just one time as opposing coaches, with Harbaugh’s Michigan team just outlasting Bielema’s Illini, 19-17.
Bielema just led Illinois to a 10-3 season, with a 21-17 win over South Carolina to cap off the year. Meanwhile, Harbaugh led the Los Angeles Chargers to an AFC Wild Card berth in his first year.
