Late on Wednesday night, Steve Lutz and the Oklahoma State Cowboys found another heartbreaking way to lose, with the TCU Horned Frogs stealing a win at home, 73-72.
The game came down to the final possession of the game, and with 3.8 seconds remaining, TCU guard Vasean Allette splashed a ridiculous turnaround three to send the Cowboys home packing.
With the game winner falling, Oklahoma State was left with less than one second remaining, too little time to muster any realistic shot. The Cowboys fell to 12-12 on the season and just 4-9 in Big 12 Conference play.
Allette finished the day as the leading scorer for Jamie Dixon’s squad, going 7-18 for 16 points, alongside seven assists and six rebounds. He, alongside senior guard Noah Reynolds, have been the most consistent scorers for TCU, and Allette continues to show his worth on a nightly basis.
For TCU, the win is massive as the team held on to secure a win at home. The group advanced to 13-11 and 6-7 in league play. They will likely need a few more statement wins on their resume if they intend to rally back and make the 2025 NCAA Tournament, though.
