Is there anything better than cold beer and baseball? It’s a combination that is hard to beat during the season. No matter what kind of beer you drink (or how many), let’s take a look at some of the best action on the Big 12 baseball diamond from Saturday with a nice six pack.

Best Game

Cincinnati at #11 Duke

Anytime a Big 12 team takes a top 15 opponent to extras is always a good time. Unfortunately for Cincinnati, they came out on the wrong end of this one. Kerrington Cross got the party started right away with a solo shot to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Blue Devils would tie the game in the fourth inning and eventually take a 5-2 lead in the fifth after a couple of mistakes by the Bearcats. But thanks to Donovan Brooks and Lauden Brooks, Cincinnati tied the game at five in the sixth.

Neither team would score for the next few innings and eventually Duke came away with the win as Wallace Clark hit a walk off home run in extras.

Best Win

#17 Oklahoma State vs Louisville

After a disappointing opening game against Clemson, the Cowboys bounced back in a big way on Saturday against Louisville. Despite being down 3-0 going into the fourth inning, Colin Bruggeman’s grand slam gave Oklahoma State the lead.

Nolan Schubart added a run in the fifth inning before a few errors helped the Cowboys extend their lead even more. Oklahoma State capped off the game with a pair of long balls thanks to Avery Ortiz and Jayson Jones as the Cowboys went on to win 12-3.

Worst Loss

#15 Clemson over #21 Arizona

This game couldn’t have started any worse for the Wildcats. In the very first inning of the game, Clemson scored seven runs and never looked back. While the Wildcats made things interesting in the fifth inning after Brendan Summerhill’s three-run blast, the Tigers once again pulled away by putting up an eight spot in the ninth inning. It seemed like when it rained, it poured in this one for the Wildcats.

Saturday MVP

Baylor LF Wesley Jordan

The Bears ended up playing a double header on Saturday and it turned out to be the Wesley Jordan show all day long. In the first game, he had three RBIs and then in the second he came away with four bringing his RBI total to seven on the day.

Pitcher of the Day

Kansas RHP Manning West

Manning had quite the day on the mound down in Corpus. Against the Islanders, Manning pitched five innings and gave up just one run while striking out seven batters. He helped the Jayhawks get the win as they look to take the series on Sunday.

Best Home Run

Oklahoma State DH Jayson Jones

While his home run may not have been the most important one of the day due to the score, it’s not often you see a 460-foot blast. I don’t think that ball ever landed.
