It’s been a rough basketball season for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Year 1 under Steve Lutz. The Cowboys are 4-10 in Big 12 play and nine games out of first place with three weeks left in the season. And with frigid temperatures hitting much of the Heartland, Oklahoma State is doing everything it can to get fans out to Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday night when the Cowboys host the UCF Knights.

Oklahoma State is offering free admission to fans to attend the game on Wednesday night. Here’s the press release from KFOR Sports Anchor Dylan Buckingham.

The game will air at 8:00 p.m. CT on ESPNU, so much of this may be the Cowboys wanting to avoid an embarrassing look in national television.

But it remains a great opportunity for those fans who might not have the means to attend a game to get out and go watch some Division 1 hoops. Bring the kids, have a hot dog, and enjoy yourself.

One of the problems with Gallagher-Iba is that it was built too big, at nearly 14,000 seats, which makes the arena feel empty when it’s not close to full.

While the Pokes aren’t playing great basketball, they will have a chance to beat the Knights, who are also 4-10 in Big 12 play going into this game.

Oklahoma State is coming off a drubbing by Texas Tech, as the Cowboys lost 93-55 on Saturday in front of the home crowd. This came after a one-point loss last week to TCU.

Lutz is in his first year as head coach of the Cowboys after one season at Western Kentucky that saw the Hilltoppers go 22-12 and reach the NCAA Tournament.
