While college basketball coaching attire has changed drastically over the years, many believe that the old style of suits and ties may be what’s best for the game.
On Saturday morning, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark joined Rece Davis for an interview on ESPN’s College GameDay and spoke about the possibility of bringing back stylish suits for head coaches.
When asked about his excellent taste in suits, Yormark said, “This is my uniform. I wear this every day, but I stepped it up today because I knew I was going to see JWill (Jay Williams). But I am discussing with our coaches to see if we can raise the bar a little bit and differentiate ourselves. It’s a work in progress.
While the attire has transitioned into more of a khaki and quarter zip league, seeing coaches dressed to the nines while drawing up plays is something that never goes out of style.

Yormark also made some comments about the Big 12 Conference’s position in the modern era of college basketball, cementing the league as the undisputed best.
“Over the last five to ten years, there’s no debate who the No. 1 basketball conference in America has been, and it’s been the Big 12,” Yormark said. “And if you think about, with realignment the last two years, we got better. Think about Arizona, think about Houston here, think about BYU. That being said, I do expect us to have a presence in San Antonio. That is the expectation when you think about Big 12 Basketball, and when we’re there, I think it further credentializes us as the No. 1 basketball conference in America.”
