Is there anything better than cold beer and baseball? It’s a combination that is hard to beat during the season. No matter what kind of beer you drink (or how many), let’s take a look at some of the best action on the Big 12 baseball diamond from Saturday with a nice six pack.

Best Game

Arizona vs San Diego

The Wildcats had a 4-1 lead heading into then ninth inning against San Diego and managed to blow it. Luckily for them, Aaron Walton came up with the game winning hit to walk it off for the Wildcats for the 5-4 victory.

Best Win

Kansas State over Michigan

How about the Kansas State Wildcats? After a tough start out in Conway last weekend, the Wildcats are now 2-0 in Arlington with wins over a top five Arkansas team and Michigan. Michael Quevedo and Donte Lewis pitched lights out against the Wolverines and thanks to a pair of homers from Dee Kennedy and Seth Dardar, Kansas State was able to cruise to a 5-1 win.

Worst Loss

BYU

The Cougars by far had the worst day in the Big 12 with their 9-3 loss to Cal State Northridge on Saturday afternoon. BYU got off to a rough start where they found themselves down 4-1 and then gave up five runs in the sixth inning. The Cougars were trying to play catch up all game long and couldn’t quite dig themselves out of an early hole.

Saturday MVP

Texas Tech DH Logan Hughes

Logan had a big day for the Red Raiders who very much needed a bounce back performance after a rough start to the season. Hughes had two RBIs in the first two innings before crushing a two-run blast in the fifth to bring his RBI total to four on the day.

Pitcher of the Day

Baylor RHP Lucas Davenport

Another day means another Baylor pitcher stealing the spotlight. This time it was Lucas Davenport. On Saturday against Gonzaga, Lucas pitched four innings and didn’t allow a single run. In fact, he allowed just one hit during his time on the mound and helped Baylor move to 6-0.

Best Home Run

Kansas RF Jackson Hauge

Jackson’s ninth inning blast helped Kansas push past Tarleton State on Saturday in game one of their doubleheader.
