On Saturday afternoon in Manhattan, Kansas, two Big 12 teams clashed in an exciting matchup.

Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats welcomed TJ Otzelberger and the Iowa State Cyclones to Bramlage Coliseum for the final game of the Big 12 regular season. Iowa State took the reigns early and never let go, earning a wire-to-wire win over Kansas State in the Farmageddon rivalry game.

With that, here are the top three takeaways from Iowa State’s 73-57 win over the Wildcats.

Revenge Game

While Iowa State has been one of the Big 12’s best groups this year and has beaten nearly everyone they’ve faced, one team that surprised them was Kansas State. The Wildcats blew out Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum in their first matchup, winning 80-61.

The Cyclones got their revenge on Saturday in Manhattan, taking down Kansas State in blowout fashion. In the game, Curtis Jones and Joshua Jefferson dominated, combining for 38 points. Jones led all scorers on the day with a 24-point, five-assist, five-rebound showing.

Fouls Galore

Though the game didn’t come down to fouls making the difference for either team, there sure were a lot of them. The Big 12 crew of Eric Curry, Edwin Young, and Chris Pacsi handed out a total of 44 fouls, 23 of them to Iowa State and 21 to K-State. The fouls didn’t result in one team seeing more trips to the line, though, as both groups took 22 attempts from the charity stripe.

In terms of foul trouble, a total of 10 different players finished with three or more fouls, including Joshua Jefferson, Milan Momcilovic, Dishon Jackson, Nate Heise, Brandton Chatfield, Curtis Jones, Max Jones, Dug McDaniel, David N’Guessan, and Mobi Ikegwuruka.

Rollercoaster Ends

What a wild ride for the Wildcats.

Kansas State had one of the most confusing regular seasons in recent history, winning and losing in streaks. K-State kicked off the regular season with an upset win over Cincinnati, followed by a losing streak of six in a row, before turning into the best team in the league for a stretch that featured multiple top-25 wins.

K-State took down No. 23 West Virginia, Oklahoma State, No. 3 Iowa State, Arizona State, No. 16 Kansas, and No. 13 Arizona all in a row. They then took a nose dive, losing four in a row before going 2-1 in their final three outings.
