Following a tough loss on the road at Kansas, Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd turned some heads with an interesting statement on his own fanbase.

Lloyd mentioned that there is a sizeable gap between Arizona and teams like Kansas and Iowa State, who have some of the Big 12’s best home-court environments.

“The last two places we played are electric,” Lloyd said. “I’m an Arizona guy, and I love Arizona, and this is not an indictment of our fans, but we’ve got work to do. There’s a gap between Kansas and Iowa State and these gameday atmospheres and their fan support. It was awesome today.”

“My ears are still ringing,” Lloyd continued. “And that’s awesome. I’m here for it. Love it. It should be fun; I honestly had a lot of fun coaching the game. It’s fun out there competing in an environment like that. It’s something you dream of as a competitor. Nothing but respect for Coach Self, his program, and Kansas basketball.”

The comments didn’t age well in the eyes of Arizona fans, as the crew was essentially called out by the head coach of their favorite program for not showing up.

Here are some of the best reactions to the situation on social media.
