Baylor vs. Texas Tech Predictions
After taking down Kansas State in emphatic fashion, Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears are hungry for more. In their first matchup of the tournament, VJ Edgecombe and Jayden Nunn went off, combining for 37 points. For Edgecombe specifically, the Texas Tech Red Raiders haven’t seen his game up close yet as the freshman phenom was injured in the first matchup between in-state rivals.
One key matchup that will play a massive part into the winning formula is which star big has the better day, JT Toppin or Norchad Omier. Toppin was recently named Big 12 Player of the Year for his stellar play this season, but conveniently enough, one of his worst game to date came against Baylor in the 73-59 win. Omier held Toppin in check, with just eight points and eight rebounds, both significantly lower than his season average.
When looking at statistics, Texas Tech has the advantage on both sides of the court with the Big 12’s third-best offense and fourth-best defense, while Baylor checks in at No. 6 and No. 9, respectively.
