While it’s not a secret that Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners are having a bad year in 2024-25, the team is still in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid.

Despite being just 6-12 in SEC play, the Sooners find themselves on the bubble in multiple NCAA Tournament predictions, and here is where some experts believe OU should fall.

The godfather of bracketology, Joey Brackets, otherwise known as ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, has the Sooners semi-comfortably in the Big Dance as the field’s 62nd-ranked team. Oklahoma had a few key moments in the SEC Tournament that helped boost their stock, including an 85-71 upset over 11-seed Georgia, before nearly clipping off six-seed Kentucky in an 85-84 loss.

Elsewhere, bracketology projections like that of T3 and TSB have the Sooners in the field, with T3 Bracketology listing Oklahoma as “almost locked” into a bid and TSB Bracketology listing OU as one of the last four byes.

In their first year as members of the SEC, Oklahoma recorded an overall record of 20-13 and a conference record of 6-12. They had a stellar run in the non-conference schedule, compiling a 14-1 record and checking in among the nation’s best in the AP Top 25.

Since then, they’ve come crashing back down to Earth with some big losses and have made it a tough position for bracketologists around the country. Their tournament future will be decided on Sunday, March 16th, on the Selection Sunday show.
