Texas Tech Basketball 2025 March Madness Seed and Opponent Announced

The 2025 NCAA Tournament selection committee has given the Texas Tech Red Raiders the No. 3 seed in the West Regional.

Texas Tech will take on No. 14 seed UNC-Wilmington on Thursday in Wichita. The winner will play either No. 6 Missouri or No. 11 Drake in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

 

UNCW is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017. They have won NCAA Tournament win in program history in 2002.

Last season, the Red Raiders were the No. 6 seed in the South Regional. The Red Raiders wound up losing to the NC State Wolfpack in the First Round by a score of 80-67.

Texas Tech Basketball Information Ahead of March Madness

Texas Tech finished the regular season with a 25-8 record, including a 15-5 record in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders were bounced from the Big 12 Tournament by runner-up Arizona 86-80.

 

The Red Raiders are led by JT Toppin, who leads the team in most major stat categories, with 18.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Toppin was named Big 12 Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Big 12 selection this year. He is also joined by three other double-digit scorers, including Darrion Williams, Chance McMillian, and Christian Anderson, who combine for nearly 40 points per game.

Texas Tech has made 20 NCAA Tournament appearances while reaching just one Final Four. The Red Raiders have an overall record of 19-21 in March Madness.
