While some teams are moving on in the March Madness, others are already in offseason mode. And with the offseason in full swing, there are several players hitting the transfer portal.
One of the top guards in the portal is Iowa’s Brock Harding, who is down to his final six schools, which includes three Big 12 teams in Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech, according to On3 Sports. The other three in the mix are Louisville, South Carolina and Washington.
Of those schools, only Texas Tech is still playing in the Tournament.
On3 lists Harding as their No. 31 player in the transfer portal and No. 7 point guard in the portal.
Harding played in all 33 of Iowa’s games this season and made 24 starts. The 6-foot sophomore averaged 8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 45.4% from the field and 39.8% from three-point range.
Harding gave an emotional tribute to former Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, who was dismissed after 15 seasons with the Hawkeyes.
The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
