The health of one of Arkansas’ biggest stars is in question for the Sweet 16 matchup between Arkansas and Texas Tech.
On Tuesday, head coach John Calipari updated the media on the injured Adou Thiero and announced that he would be available if needed against the Red Raiders.
“Adou Thiero is available,” Calipari said. “The most he’ll play, 12 minutes. Maybe 15. But you’ve got to prepare now because we’re a different team. Adou wanted to play. He’s the only reason he’s playing. He said, ‘I’m playing.’ It’ll help this team.”
In 2024-25, Thiero has played a total of 26 games, averaging 28.3 minutes per game. He was posting 15.6 points, six rebounds, and two assists prior to his injury in February.
The addition of Thiero complicates things for Texas Tech as the group now has to defend three talented players in the frontcourt instead of just two. On the opposite side of the court, the Red Raiders have been dealing with their fair share of setbacks as Chance McMillian has missed the past two games, and Darrion Williams has been playing at less than 100%.
Will all three players see the court in the Sweet 16? That question will be answered on Thursday, March 27th, at 9:09 p.m. central.
