On Friday evening, Jerome Tang and the Kansas State Wildcats were included on a cutdown list for Miami transfer Jalil Bathea.
Bathea, a former Top 10 player in his recruiting class, spent his freshman season at Miami, where he showed some serious NBA potential.
According to a recent story from 247Sports’ Travis Branham, Bathea included the Wildcats alongside Alabama and NC State while not ruling out a potential return to Miami.
Last season with the Hurricanes, Bathea posted 7.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game on 36.8% shooting from the field. He saw action in 31 games for Miami, averaging 19 minutes per night.
Coming out of Archbishop Wood in the Class of 2024, Bathea was listed as a five-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s seventh-ranked player. He also checked in as the third-ranked shooting guard in his class and the top-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, March 24, 2025. According to NCAA data, 1,296 FBS basketball players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 864 (66.7%) undergraduates and 432 (33.3%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 70% reported that they enrolled in another school, 6% withdrew their names from the portal, and 23% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
