Bill Self will have quite the roster rebuild on his hands before 2025, as the Kansas Jayhawks continue to deal with portal attrition following a disappointing year.

Just after the news broke that star freshman Flory Bidunga would enter the transfer portal, KU is set to lose two more players to the portal.

The first loss is Rakease Passmore, a freshman shooting guard out of Palatka, Florida. Listed at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, Passmore was a high four-star talent out of high school and appeared in 23 games for the Jayhawks this past season.

Despite averaging just 0.7 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game in 2024-25, Passmore appeared to be a player that could see his role expand in the upcoming season.

The second transfer will be senior guard David Coit, who transferred from NIU this past season and will exit the program after just one year in Lawrence.

In his final year with the Huskies, Coit averaged 20.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, but saw his production fall dramatically with KU. Now, after tallying just 5.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 2024-25, he’ll take his final year of eligibility elsewhere.

With Bidunga, Passmore, and Coit all headed out, plus the loss of several key players to graduation, Kansas will have a lot of roster spots needing filled before the 2025 season begins.

It’ll be an interesting year for KU, too, as they started 2024 off as the No. 1 team in the country but got bounced in the first round of the tournament and ended the year at 21-13—the worst mark in the Bill Self era.
