On Saturday morning, Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers added a new name to the class of 2026 with the commitment of a star quarterback.
Jyron Hughley, a 6-foot-1 signal caller from West Palm Beach, Florida, chose the Mountaineers over offers from 21 different programs, including UCF, Florida State, Indiana, Syracuse, Miami, and more.
Coming out of Cardinal Newman High School in the Class of 2026, Hughley is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 463rd-ranked player. He also checked in as the 27th-ranked player at his position and the 63rd-ranked player in the state of Florida.
After agreeing to take over for Neal Brown at West Virginia, Rich Rodriguez moved quickly to offer Jyron Hughley. He elected to commit to West Virginia after taking an unofficial campus visit over the weekend.
One aspect of his recruitment that paid dividends for Rodriguez’s staff was the fact that Highley is the nephew of former West Virginia quarterback and assistant coach JaJuan Seider.
With the commitment, West Virginia has now added a total of four athletes in the Class of 2026, a group that checks in as the nation’s 44th-ranked group.
