Big 12 baseball is in full swing, as we just wrapped up the first full month of conference play. Last week, we had a major shakeup in the power rankings, and this week, things were no different! So, without further ado, here are my Big 12 baseball power rankings for the week!

#1 Kansas (Lask Week: 2)

Well look at this. We have a new number one this week with the Kansas Jayhawks! After sweeping UCF in Orlando, the Jayhawks are now sitting at the top of the Big 12 standings with a 9-3 record. And with the sweep, Kansas has now won nine games in a row.

#2 West Virginia (Lask Week: 3)

If Kansas had lost, then I would have put the Mountaineers at one but sweeping Utah was the next best thing they could have done this past weekend. I feel confident saying that this team will get to number one at some point this season.

#3 Arizona (Last Week: 6)

That was a loud statement series against Arizona State this past weekend who I had number one in my power rankings the last two weeks. Even though they didn’t complete the sweep on ESPN2 on Sunday, I was still impressed with the way they handled themselves against a great team.

#4 Arizona State (Lask Week: 1)

It’s been awhile since Arizona State has been knocked off but sometimes your in-state rival gets the best of you and that is exactly what happened to the Sun Devils this weekend after losing the first two games of the series against the Wildcats.

#5 TCU (Lask Week: 5)

Sweeping a team in conference play is never easy but when you do it against a team like BYU, it is not all that impressive to me. But it’s good to see TCU playing much better right now than they were a few weeks ago.

#6 Oklahoma State (Last Week: 7)

This team has been very frustrating to watch at times, but this past weekend was not one of them. After a close win on Friday, the Cowboys won two in a row on Sunday in convincing fashion as they outscored the Wildcats 17 to 2.

#7 Kansas State (Last Week: 4)

I know Kansas State just got swept but playing a Sunday doubleheader is not easy on the road. I am still extremely high on this team despite getting swept by an inconsistent Oklahoma State team.

#8 Houston (Last Week: 10)

Don’t look know but the basketball team in Houston isn’t the only thing getting hot in H-Town. The Cougars have now won their second conference series this season and are looking much better than what they did a month ago.

#9 Cincinnati (Last Week: 11)

I wasn’t a big believer in this team after a rough start to conference play, but now the Bearcats find themselves in the top ten and got back to .500 in Big 12 action thanks to a series win against the Red Raiders in Lubbock.

#10 Baylor (Last Week: 8)

After a great start in non-conference action, the Bears have fallen back to earth since conference play started. Baylor dropped the series finale against Houston on Sunday as they fell to under .500 in conference play for the first time since opening weekend.

#11 Texas Tech (Last Week: 9)

It’s been a wild season for the Red Raiders as things continue to go wrong after dropping the series on Sunday against Cincinnati at home. At some point this team has to wake up.

#12 BYU (Last Week: 12)

I kept the Cougars in the same spot as last week after getting swept by TCU. BYU wasn’t very competitive in the first two games, but they were at least competitive in the final game of the series on Friday night.

#13 UCF (Last Week: 13)

The Knights are one of the most disappointing teams in the Big 12, and this past weekend didn’t help. UCF got swept by a red-hot Kansas team at home and fell to 3-9 in Big 12 play.

#14 Utah (Last Week: 14)

The Utes remain in last place after a rough weekend in Morgantown where they were swept by the Mountaineers. This now makes six straight losses in conference play for Utah after a big series win against Oklahoma State.
