One of the best players in the Big 12 will stay in the conference this season, but he’ll be wearing different colors when the time comes.

Baylor transfer point guard Rob Wright is transferring to BYU and has signed with the Cougars, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Wright appeared in all 35 games, including 21 starts, in 2024-25, and was a Big 12 All-Freshman selection in his first year with the program after averaging 11.5 points and 4.2 assists while shooting 35.3% from three-point range.

Listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Wright was a five-star prospect out of high school, ranking as the No. 3 point guard and No. 8 overall player in ther 2024 class.

With Egor Demin announcing his decision to leave for the NBA Draft, the Cougars were in need of someone to run point, and they went out and got the best available player at the position.

BYU is coming off its first Sweet 16 appearance since 2011 and is set to add the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class, with AJ Dybansta coming in ahead of next season. Now, with Wright on board, it’s time to start including the Cougars in any Big 12 Championship discussions for next season, and perhaps beyond.
