While it’s no secret that Utah’s entrance to the Big 12 Conference hasn’t been the smoothest of the four off-season additions, the program’s fans aren’t making it any easier on themselves.
On Sunday, one message board poster went viral on social media for his “inside conversations” with the Utah Athletic Department, outlining the team’s alleged plans to leave the Big 12 for the Big Ten in the coming months.
“What I’ve been told is Utah’s recent integration into the Big 12 has been more strained than than publically acknowledged,” the post read. “Several ADs and University Presidents have clashed with Utah reps in media rights discussions and scheduling logistics. The source described Utah’s leadership as ‘very Pac-12 in how they operate,’ more academic-centric, which hasn’t exactly meshed well with the Big 12’s more traditional southern-heavy base.”
“Now here’s the part of the conversation that almost made me s*** my pants,” the post continued. “In the coming month, Utah to the Big Ten is all but a done deal.”
Understandably, the post was destroyed on social media by Big 12 fans, calling out the Utes for yet another ridiculous plea to leave the conference that threw them a floatie when the Pac-12 collapsed.
Could it be a rival fanbase trolling the Utes? Absolutely, but regardless, here are some of the best reactions to the situation on X.
