One of the most explosive playmakers in the Big 12 will return for 2025 as West Virginia running back Jahiem White has announced he’ll be with the Mountaineers next season.

It’s huge news for the program, as there was anxiety that White might follow CJ Donaldson’s footsteps and enter the portal, leaving the ‘Eers without their top two ball carriers.

However, with White back in the fold, Rich Rodriguez has a game-changer at running back, and that’s proven to be a dangerous duo in the past.

White had limited opportunities as a true freshman in 2023, but eventually broke through the depth chart over the back half of the season and exploded for 842 yards (7.7 ypc) and four touchdowns, adding five catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

This season, while sharing the backfield with Donaldson and no longer a secret weapon, White rushed for 845 yards (5.7 ypc) and seven touchdowns, adding 19 receptions for 122 yards and a score. White gave WVU fans a scare in the Frisco Bowl when he left in the first half with a hamstring injury, but he should be ready to go for spring ball and figures to be the bonafide starter next to Nicco Marchiol.

With nearly identical seasons in a shared role in both 2023 and 2024, it’s fair to expect that White is set to have a career year in ’25 with Donaldson now at Ohio State.

The Mountaineers will open up the 2025 season against Robert Morris on Saturday, August 30.
