Whitney Risner, the wife of former Kansas State star and now Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Dalton Risner, spoke about the behavior of Detroit Lions fans at Ford Field ahead of their Sunday Night Football match up.
Risner was doing a social media video showing off her outfit before going to the NFC North matchup between the two teams that would decide the No. 1 seed in the NFC. She said when the two teams played last year in Detroit, she did not realize how unpleasant it was going to be.
“Last year, I wore a flashy purple jacket, and I’ve never been heckled so much at an away game,” she said in the video.
“Little did I know that I would be heckled, touched and called names at last night’s game by Detroit fans (Simply for being Vikings fans),” she added.
As you can also see in that screenshot, Taylor Saunders, the girlfriend of Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman, also claimed fans were “wishing injuries on the opposing players” in response to a social media comment praising Lions fans.
The Lions won the game 30-9 to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Risner was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2022, and has been with the Vikings since 2023.
How Dalton Risner Met His Wife
Dalton played football at Kansas State and Whitney was on the basketball team at Fort Hays State in Kansas. According to the New York Post, the Risners got to meet each other at Lake of the Ozarks, where Dalton was vacationing and Whitney’s parents have a house and she had a summer job.
They then followed each other on Instagram. Dalton slide into Whitney’s DMs, but at the time Whitney had a boyfriend, which left Dalton in the “friend zone”. About a year later, Dalton was in his senior year at K-State, and they reconnected on Snapchat.
After Whitney broke up with her boyfriend, she reached out to Dalton and they got together down at Lake of the Ozarks. The rest, as the cliché goes, is history.
Whitney Risner has over 1 million followers on TikTok and over 100,000 on Instagram as she started posting videos of her relationship as the fiance/wife of an NFL player in 2020.
