Oklahoma State’s linebacker room got a little thinner earlier this week as Jeff Roberson entered the transfer portal and reportedly landed with Oklahoma, joining former teammate Kendal Daniels.

However, the Cowboys’ defensive staff pivoted quickly and added Trip White, a two-year contributor for the Ole Miss Rebels.

White, listed at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, will be a redshirt junior in 2025 and will have two years of eligibility remaining in Stillwater.

Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, White was heavily recruited by the Pokes out of high school and held offers from nearly two dozen programs aside from Ole Miss and Oklahoma State, including Utah, Baylor, Arkansas, Kansas State, and Louisville.

White played in 21 total games during his time with the Rebels, and played in all 13 games for Ole Miss in 2024 as a full-time member on special teams.

During his freshman season, White played in three games and recorded eight tackles before the decision was made to redshirt him.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will remain open until Saturday, December 28, with an exception for players on teams who play bowl games after the window closes. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the transfer portal in 2023-24 school year, with 1,558 (68.5%) undergraduates and 715 (31.5%) graduate transfers. Of the entrants, 57% reported that they enrolled in another school, 8% withdrew their names from the portal, and 35% are still active, transferred to a non-NCAA school, or left their sport.
