According to a report from Baton Rouge’s WAFB News 9, Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for LSU football standout Kyren Lacy.
Lacy is reportedly wanted on charges of negligent homicide and felony hit-and-run after a traffic incident on December 17, 2024, killed a former Marine and injured two others.
WAFB also reports that Louisiana State Police say they are “in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in.”
According to Louisiana State investigators, Lacy allegedly caused the crash, proceeded to speed out of the area, and failed to report his involvement to the police.
Lacy, 24, is also wanted on a charge of reckless driving, according to court records. He declared for the NFL Draft two days after the incident.
According to the police report, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on I-20 and “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.”
At that point, a northbound driver in a pickup truck slammed on their brakes and swerved to avoid a head-on-collision with Lacy’s car. A Kia Cadenza located behind the pickup swerved left, crossing the centerline and hitting a southbound Kia Sorrento head-on, according to the police report via WAFB.
Herman Hall, a 78-year-old native of Thibodaux (LA) and former marine, was critically injured in the accident and later died at the hospital.
In his final season at LSU, Lacy led the Tigers in touchdowns (9) while ranking second on the team in receptions (58) and receiving yards (866). Over his five-year stint in Baton Rouge, Lacy caught 162 passes for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns.
