Arizona State University head basketball coach Bobby Hurley is interviewed on TNT's pregame broadcast Men's before the NCAA national championship game at State Farm Stadium.

While it’s no secret that a move to the Big 12 Conference comes with some difficulty, Arizona State’s Bobby Hurley opened up about the move following their difficult loss to Baylor.

Hurley opened up about the difficult travel schedule and the talent that each team in the league has on their roster.

This league will be an adjustment. Playing on a Wednesday night in Kansas and flying back, and now you’re seeing this team. This league is strong and we got to get used to being ready to do better.”

Hurley then turned his focus to the 72-66 loss to Baylor, a game where the team rallied back from a 15-point deficit to reach overtime. ASU was outscored 32-20 in the first half before flipping a switch and taking it to the Bears in the second half. They won the second half 41-29 but were outscored 11-5 in overtime to lose their third conference game of the year.

“I think this is another case where we had two separate halves, and we’ve got to try and figure some things out to be a little more consistent,” Hurley continued. “I appreciated how the guys on the floor fought and battled to get back in the game and get it to overtime, so that was a positive sign that they didn’t give in.”

Hurley’s Sun Devils are one of four teams to join the Big 12 Conference in 2024-25, alongside in-state rival Arizona, who’s off to a 4-0 start to league play, and Colorado and Utah, who are a combined 1-7 in conference games.
