The Texas Tech Red Raiders and Kansas State Wildcats continue Big 12 Conference men’s basketball action on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, in Manhattan, Kansas.

Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. central on CBSSN. The Red Raiders (11-4, 2-2 in Big 12) and the Wildcats (7-8, 1-3) are both unranked in the AP Top 25.

The 2024-25 season has been an incredible disappointment for Kansas State fans as the team entered the season with one of the biggest NIL budgets in college basketball. With additions like Coleman Hawkins, Dug McDaniel, Achor Achor, and Ugonna Onyenso, many expected the Wildcats to reach post-season play. However, that is growing increasingly unlikely as the Wildcats find themselves on a three-game losing streak. They host a Texas Tech team fresh off of a heartbreaking loss to No. 2 Iowa State and are eager to jump back into the win column in conference play.

Here is a preview of Tuesday’s game.

Texas Tech vs. Kansas State Predictions

The Texas Tech Red Raiders have established themselves as one of the league’s top-tiered teams this season, and while they hold a 2-2 record in Big 12 Conference play, their two losses have come by a combined five points.

Led by a combination of stars in JT Toppin, Darrion Williams, Chance McMillian, and Christian Anderson, the Red Raiders have found production in bunches. Along with transfer guard Kevin Overton, the five are averaging a combined 68.2 points per game.

The major statistical difference in the matchup comes when dealing with Kansas State’s defense and Texas Tech’s offense. The Red Raiders are the Big 12’s second-best scoring offense, averaging 85.4 points per game, while the Wildcats check in as one of the league’s worst defenses, allowing opponents to score 71.8 PPG.

Texas Tech’s talented frontcourt should have a field day in Manhattan in a relatively quiet environment with fan support dwindling for Jerome Tang and Kansas State. Look for the Red Raiders to get up early and not let off the gas.
