Ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup between Baylor and Arizona, an interesting injury update was released that could severely hurt the stock of Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears.
According to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Baylor’s Langston Love and Jalen Celestine are both game-time decisions with ankle injuries.
Scott Drew has been dealing with a short bench this season and has only had seven players active in each of their last few outings. The duo of Love and Celestine are posting 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game this season on 37.2% shooting from the field.
When active, the two have been key contributors for Drew’s squad, each averaging more than 20 minutes per contest. Due to the ankle injuries, Langstone Love has missed a total of seven games this season, while Celestine has missed three.
Despite a short bench with little to no available depth, Baylor has done well in conference play with an overall record of 3-1 in their four outings. The group kicked off league play with an 81-56 blowout win over Utah, followed by a loss to No. 3 Iowa State and two back-to-back wins against Cincinnati and Arizona State.
Their opponent in tonight’s game, Arizona, has yet to lose a conference game in 2024-25, sitting tied for first place in the Big 12 Conference with a 4-0 record in league play.
The two will square off at McKale Memorial Center on Tuesday, January 14th, at 10:00 p.m. central on ESPN.
