As folks get set for the 2025 National Championship Game tonight, there is notable news about an upcoming game of the same magnitude. Well, “upcoming” might be a bit of a stretch.
According to Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, the site of the 2029 College Football Playoff National Championship Game has been changed from Dallas to Tampa.
Dallas had been slated as the site of the 2029 National Championship, but reportedly has a “scheduling conflict” that will move the game to Tampa, which last hosted the CFP title game in 2017.
“Breaking: Tampa replaces Dallas to host Jan. 22, 2029 @CFBPlayoff title game, sources said,” McMpurhpy wrote on Twitter. “Other future national title sites, as I reported in May, remain Las Vegas (Jan. 25, 2027), New Orleans (Jan. 24, 2028) & Miami (Jan. 21, 2030). Tampa also hosted 2017 title game. Dallas couldn’t host in 2029 because of scheduling conflicts, sources said.”
The hosting sites for the next five national title games are set, as of now, with 2028-30 not official at this time.
