While Houston and Utah fans had their calendars marked for an exciting matchup on Tuesday, January 21st, inclement weather appears to have a plan of its own.

The game was previously scheduled to tip off on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. central in the Fertitta Center but will now take place on Wednesday, January 22nd instead.

“Due to the threat of severe winter weather expected to hit the greater Houston area, the University of Houston Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs announced changes to their schedules this week,” the release states. “As part of a doubleheader, Houston Women’s Basketball now faces Big 12 Conference rival Texas Tech at 1 p.m., Wednesday. Houston Men’s Basketball tips off vs. Utah in the first meeting in Houston during the series history at 5 p.m., Wednesday.”

Utah hits the road to Houston as a 16.5-point underdog in the matchup against the Big 12’s final remaining unbeaten team in league play. The Cougars have won six straight to start off conference play and also hold the nation’s record for longest home winning streak at 32 straight games won.

As for the Utes, Craig Smith’s squad enters the game on a three-game winning streak after dropping their first three games in conference play. They’ve taken down BYU, TCU, and Oklahoma State in the last three outings after dropping their first three to Baylor, Texas Tech, and No. 3 Iowa State.

The new game time for Utah vs. No. 7 Houston is set for Wednesday, January 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. central.
