The 2024 college football season is officially over after Ohio State’s 34-23 win over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday night.

Naturally, that points college football fans to start looking ahead to the 2025 season, which is just over 220 days away. There are several storylines to carry us through the coming months with spring ball, the spring portal window, summer enrollees, and fall camp all coming before we see actual football.

Kansas State and Iowa State will open up the action in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on August 23, 2025, getting a one-week jump on the rest of the country.

The Week 1 slate that follows on Saturday, August 30, is chock-full of incredible matchups, with some of the most intriguing matchups including games like:

  • Texas at Ohio State
  • Notre Dame at Miami
  • LSU at Clemson
  • Auburn at Baylor
  • Alabama at Florida State

FanDuel has done us the favor of releasing some way-too-early lines for some of those games, too, via future college football commissioner Josh Pate.

Auburn opens as a 1.5-point favorite over Baylor in Waco, and will probably be the biggest Big 12 game of the first week, while TCU at North Carolina is equally intriguing with Bill Belichick on the sidelines.
