The art of schedule release videos has been something that has taken the world of college sports by storm over the past few seasons.
On Tuesday morning, Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers caught a stray from Pitt in the rollout of their schedule release video, referencing a low blow from the past.
In the video, multiple members of the Pitt football team can be seen working in a pizza shop, cooking up pizzas that reference each team on their 2025 schedule. These include the Duke, Yellow Jacket Pie, and of course, the Mountaineer special.
One player took an order on the phone and conversed with someone requesting the Mountaineer special. He then mentioned the price of the order came to $13.09, a reference all the way back to 2007.
13-9 was the final score of the 2007 matchup between West Virginia and Pittsburgh, which kept the Mountaineers from appearing in the National Championship game that season. It was also the final game coached by Rich Rodriguez at WVU before departing for Michigan.
The Panthers and the Mountaineers are set to meet in 2025 on Saturday, September 13th, in a new iteration of the Backyard Brawl with Rich Rod back on the sidelines in Morgantown.
