In a recent list from On3’s Ari Wasserman, one athlete from the Big 12 Conference was selected as a Top 10 player in college football.

The group included athletes like Jeremiah Smith, Caleb Downs, Arch Manning, and more, and was rounded out by Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt as the country’s 10th-best college football player.

“So much of Arizona State’s success was running back Cam Skattebo taking the country by storm,” Wasserman said. “Because Skattebo was so impressive, it really took away from how good Leavitt was for the Sun Devils last year. Leavitt threw for almost 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns while also adding 443 yards and five touchdowns with his legs. He’s slippery, efficient, and explosive. Yes, there is no Skattebo coming back for ASU in 2025, but between Leavitt and receiver Jordyn Tyson, the Sun Devils should be really good again after an improbable CFP run.”

Leavitt led the Sun Devils to the College Football Playoff in his first year as a starter, winning the Big 12 Conference with an overall record of 11-3. As a redshirt freshman, Leavitt completed 216 passes for 2,885 yards and a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 24-6.

His performance on Kenny Dillingham’s squad turned the eyes of national media members everywhere as Leavitt was recently listed with the best odds of any Big 12 athlete to win the Heisman Trophy next fall at (+3300). His 33/1 odds are the 14th-best of any player in college football.
