Saturday’s matchup between Kansas and Baylor comes at a time when both flagship programs are searching for a statement win.
Both teams have struggled in league play this year for various reasons, with the Jayhawks barely dodging an upset loss to UCF and the Bears coming off of an overtime heartbreaker vs. BYU.
Three players have received injury designations ahead of the matchup, including Kansas guard Dajuan Harris and Baylor’s Jeremy Roach and Langston Love.
According to multiple reports from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Harris is expected to play against the Bears, while Roach and Love are both listed as game-time decisions.
For Bill Self and company, returning their veteran point guard is crucial. Harris broke his streak of 98 consecutive games started for Self’s squad on Tuesday, being held out vs. UCF due to an ankle injury.
“Baylor guards Jeremy Roach (concussions) and Langston Love (ankle) are both considered game-time decisions today against Kansas,” Thamel wrote. “Both are expected to participate in shootaround in the morning and then will gauge how they feel.”
The pair have each missed the last handful of games for Baylor, which has paved the way for the emergence of star freshman VJ Edgecombe. In his last three outings, the freshman phenom is averaging a team-high 26.3 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds.
Saturday’s matchup between Kansas and Baylor tips off at 3:00 p.m. central in Waco, Texas.
