Kansas basketball is in the midst of an all-time brutal stretch by KU standards after losing to Baylor on Saturday.
Last week, the Jayhawks blew a six-point lead with 20 seconds left in overtime and fell to Houston in double overtime. On Saturday, Kansas had a comfortable 21-point lead and ended up losing on the road against a depleted Baylor team.
Just how unusual is this?
Well, vs. Houston, Kansas had a 99% chance to win the game, according to ESPN’s analytics. They lost that one. And then on Saturday, early in the second half, Kansas had a 97% chance to beat the Bears. They ended up falling by nine points.

This would be historically bad for any team, never mind a blue blood like the Kansas Jayhawks.
With the loss, Kansas is now 6-4 in Big 12 play and stuck in the middle of the pack. The Jayhawks are all but certain to fall in the AP Top 25, after spending this past week ranked at No. 11.
And to make matters worse, Kansas enters a week where they have to take on Iowa State in a Big Monday match up on February 3rd at Allen Fieldhouse. And then, it’s a trip down I-70 to Manhattan to take on Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown. And K-State is playing its best basketball of the season after winning a third-straight game over No. 3 Iowa State on Saturday.
