Iowa State will enter the 2025 season viewed as one of the main contenders for a Big 12 crown after coming up just short this past season.
The Cyclones turned in one of the best seasons in school history, finishing the year with a program-record 11 wins, capped by a comeback victory over Miami in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. With Matt Campbell and Rocco Becht both returning, Iowa State has some major pieces back to make a run at another Big 12 title game appearance. Here’s a look at what stands in their way.

Schedule Breakdown
A Week 0 matchup with Kansas State certainly doesn’t play well with Matt Campbell’s teams being notoriously slow to begin the season, but after their 7-0 start in 2024, maybe there’s hope for a quick start in Dublin.
The CyHawk game in Week 2 will be tricky as always, but getting Arizona, Cincinnati, and a rebuilding Colorado team to get things rolling after that feels like a good omen for the Cyclones before they reach the meat of their schedule.
Sandwiched between two bye weeks is a three-game stretch against BYU, Arizona State, and TCU. That’s where we will find out the most about this team, and if they can win two of three there, they should be right in the thick of the Big 12 race.
