We are less than 10 days away from the start of college baseball and D1Baseball started releasing lists of the top players at each position. In this article, I will talk about which Big 12 outfielders made D1Baseball’s 100 list.
#4 Nolan Schubart (Oklahoma State)
There have been only thirteen players in OSU history to earn All-America honors in multiple seasons and Nolan Schubart is one of them. Last season, Schubart led the Big 12 led the Big 12 in home runs (23), RBIs (68), on-base percentage (.513), and slugging percentage (.838). Nolan is projected to be a first-round pick and is arguably the best player in the Big 12. I expect him to have another monster year in Stillwater before heading off to the MLB.
#12 Brendan Summerhill (Arizona)
The leadoff hitter had a breakout 2024 season for the Wildcats, scoring a whopping 50 runs last season while also leading the team in batting average (.324). And his 59 RBIs a year ago were good enough to finish second on the team only behind shortstop Mason White. His name will certainly be one to keep tabs on, especially when it comes to his draft stock, which will likely skyrocket this season.
#13 Brandon Compton (Arizona State)
Much like a few other guys on the list, Brandon Compton burst onto the college baseball scene with a bang. As a redshirt freshman in 2024, Brandon averaged .354 on the year and 14 bombs. He brings some serious power to the table, and it’s easy to see why he was named Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year last season.
#18 Kien Vu (Arizona State)
Alongside Brandon Compton is Kien Vu in the Arizona State outfield. While most guys have sophomore slumps, Kien heated up, hitting a remarkable .413 with 14 home runs, 56 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. His .413 batting average was the highest in the Pac-12 and sixth highest in the country.
#48 Brady Counsell (Kansas)
Brady Counsell (son of Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell) comes in from Minnesota where he had a breakout season last year as he posted a .905 OPS season with 25 extra-base hits and 16 stolen bases. While he did play second base at Minnesota for the last three seasons, he appears to be heading to the outfield for the Jayhawks in 2025.
