West Virginia vs. TCU Predictions
West Virginia started off hot in 2024-25 with multiple Top 25 upsets out of the gate. Since then, they have cooled off a bit. They won three of their first four conference games with wins over No. 7 Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Colorado, but have dropped four of their last six games. Their two wins came against No. 2 Iowa State and Cincinnati.
While star forward Tucker DeVries underwent season-ending surgery recently and is now applying for a medical waiver to return in 2025-26, the group’s star guard Javon Small has picked up a lot of the slack. He is currently playing All-American level basketball through the first half of the season, leading the league in points per game at 19, alongside 4.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
TCU, on the other hand, has been a bit of a mixed bag this season. The group has had a rollercoaster start to conference play with wins over No. 25 Baylor and BYU, two teams expected to be in the tournament team, as well as losses to Utah, UCF, and more. They are led by senior guard Noah Reynolds, who is posting 12.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
When looking at statistics, both teams struggle to score the basketball. West Virginia is listed at No. 15 in terms of scoring offense, one spot ahead of last-place TCU. Defensively, the Mountaineers have the edge with the third-best defense in the league compared to the Horned Frogs’ seventh-ranked unit.
