Kansas senior quarterback Jalon Daniels will be limited for spring football after undergoing offseason knee surgery this week, according to a report from The Kansas City Star‘s Shreyas Laddha.
Per the report, Daniels underwent a successful “minor knee procedure” that will limit his availability for spring activites when the Jayhawks fire things up next month.
Daniels’ health will be paramount for Kansas’ success in 2025, as will his ability to avoid a rocky start similar to the onehe expereinced in 2024.
The sixth-year senior has started 33 games in his career with the Jayhawks but has missed long stretches of action due to injury over the course of his time in Lawrence.
Daniels started all 12 games last season and struggled out of the gate, throwing just five touchdowns to eight interceptions through his first five games. However, Daniels eventually settled in and played better football over the back half of the season, leading the Jayhawks (5-7, 4-5 Big 12) to three consecutive wins over ranked opponents Iowa State, BYU and Colorado.
In all, Daniels completed 57% of his passes for 204.5 yards per game and 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, which was tied for the most in the Big 12.
Kansas opens up its 2025 season against Fresno State on August 23.
