Kansas vs. Utah Predictions
Kansas has been an interesting team in recent weeks, experiencing some turbulent outings. The group sits in fifth place in league play, four games out of first. It marks the second season in a row likely without a Big 12 regular season title, for the first time since 2000-2001 when the Iowa State Cyclones went back-to-back.
Their team is made up of multiple notable stars, including Hunter Dickinson, Zeke Mayo, Dajuan Harris, KJ Adams, AJ Storr, and more, however, the pieces haven’t quite fit in 2024-25. While AJ Storr and Rylan Griffen were brought in to be major contributors through the transfer portal, the duo is really struggling this season, averaging career lows in most major statistical categories. Kansas has two players averaging double figures, with Hunter Dickinson and Zeke Mayo combining for 31.6 points per game.
While Utah has struggled in conference play in their first season as members of the Big 12 Conference, they have been competitive in most games, with the exception of a blowout loss to Houston. Senior guard Gabe Madsen has been their best player this season, averaging 15.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
When looking at statistics, the largest differences fall in favor of the Jayhawks. Kansas heads into the game with the Big 12’s seventh-best offense and fourth-best defense, while the Utes check in at No. 9 and No. 12, respectively. While the Utes do have home-court advantage in the matchup, it’s best to not overthink this one.
