Oklahoma has dominated college softball at a level rarely achieved in any competitive sport over the last decade, and particularly in recent years.
The Sooners have won each of the last four national championships and six of the previous eight crowns, giving them one of the most impressive stretches of success ever.
Naturally, OU softball has had incredible fan support with all of this success, being a staple of consistency amid programs like football and basketball struggling to find their footing.
According to an open-records request from The Oklahoman’s Ryan Aber, Sooners softball ticket sales produced a whopping $2.6 million in 2024, making up more than 80% of the OU’s total ticket sales for women’s sports.
But, just how impressive a number is that?
Not only did that exceed the ticket sales for men’s basketball, but it was nearly $600,000 more than men’s basketball—and more than men’s and women’s basketball combined.
Oklahoma unveiled Love’s Field in 2024, giving them the largest college softball stadium in the country with a seating capacity of 4,200. Still, with under half the capacity of the Lloyd Noble Center (11,500), that’s an impressive feat—and also an indictment on the state of Oklahoma’s basketball program.
Oklahoma softball produced just shy of $4.1 million in revenue in 2024, while expenses approached $7 million. The Sooners are 10-0 this season and ranked second nationally after run-ruling No. 23 Baylor twice this past weekend.
